About Our Farm
Short History .
Bako Farm Eggs is an independent family run business which have owned the farm since the 1990’s. We offer high quality products, which are always fresh, delivered by our own refrigerated vehicles by drivers who care about the products they deliver. We are proud to be the preferred ingredient for family kitchens, restaurants, hotels and food manufacturers.
We farm because we love it. It feels like the natural thing to do. It is important to us to be a local resource for produce, eggs, and poultry. It is great to be a part of a local community and for our customers to be able to know how and by whom their food was raised.
Farming Practices
Happy hens need a happy place to roam - and that’s exactly what we provide for them at our farms up and down the land. There are free range farms, and then there are the happy egg co. Free range farms
Our Free Range Farms
There are many advantages in free range farming compared to either intensive caged layer management or barn egg production. In free range farming, the hens have easy access to shelter from weather and predators and facilities for feeding, drinking and nesting day or night. And they range naturally outside in a secure area on most days. This allows them to supplement the optimised hen house diet with other natural foods such as, soft leaves, seeds and insects.
Free Range Hens are able to eat small stone fragments that aid digestion and release necessary trace minerals.
Our farmers have adapted the latest technologies to build modern free range farms. When inside, the hens’ comfort is ensured by an environmentally friendly layer facility. The barns have modern features such as automatic egg collection, feeding and watering. Cooling fans and foggers keep the hens more comfortable on hot days.
